Worcester Porcelain Tea Cup Bowl Cobalt Blue & Gold Exotic Bird. For your consideration is an early English porcelain tea bowl or cup without a handle. An authentic and legitimate Worcester piece from the middle/third quarter of the 18th century. It is an example of the most sought-after wares produced by Worcester and has a splendid deep cobalt blue grounds.The grounds are decorated by hand with Japanese style designs, exotic birds, flower groups and insects in vivid colors with golden highlights. It displays extraordinarily fine painting and gilding.
This early porcelain has a slightly cream/grey hue as it contains no or very little bone ash. Well marked with the Worcester blue hatched crescent underglaze. Early Worcester porcelain is very scarce to find, especially the hand painted Japanese style pieces as the one presented here. 3 15/16" diameter (across) x 1 7/16" high.
