A Japanese Satsuma pottery vase, the tapering ovoid body resting on a splayed foot and rising to a waisted cylindrical neck with everted rim, decorated in overglaze enamels and gilding with scenes of bijin and their attendants walking by a river with Fujiyama in the distance, the reverse with a scene of further bijin catching fireflies, all on a Mazarin blue ground with foliate designs in gilding.
