Antique Royal Nippon Porcelain Ball Vase Cobalt Blue Gold Scrolls Double Handles
Antique Royal Nippon Porcelain Ball Vase Cobalt Blue Gold Scrolls Double Handles Hand Painted Floral Jardiniere Moriage Footed Ewer c1880. Stunning Royal Nippon ball vase in cobalt blue imperial, and white, with hand painted pink, purple, and blue flowers, in 4 cartouches, with 22K gold floral scrollwork and details. The vase is accented with raised enamel and moriage highlights. The vase has a scalloped footing, a round ruffled mouth, and double ornate handles. The vessel is unmarked which dates before pre 1890, (Victorian era) after which Nippon was required to mark their wares being imported to North American markets. This large vase measures 7 3/4" tall x 7 1/2" diameter. It is in excellent antique condition with no chips, no cracks and no crazing. There is very minimal gold rub to be expected. It has weight and is sturdy. The deep cobalt blue creates a wonderful contrast to the hand painted floral, raised enamel, gold and moriage decoration.
The handles add another level of decoration to create a well-balanced profile. It is hard to find large pieces of the cobalt blue Nippon and this one is definitely a gorgeous piece. Standing alone or filled with your favorite flowers this ewer vase is well executed and will never sit unappreciated and is truly a collectors piece.
