COALPORT England Demitasse Cup & Saucer, Gilt Decoration, c. 1900

  

Welcome to Antiques & Moore! This listing is for a stunning Coalport English porcelain demitasse cup and saucer, c. Both pieces are decorated with beautiful 24 K gold background embellishment and cobalt blue design on the white porcelain ground. The design on the saucer includes a tree and flowers in cobalt blue in the center with a decorative band around the design, branches of flowers with a gilded background around the outside border and a cobalt design around the scalloped exterior rim. The cup has a matching design with gilded background around the exterior of the cup and cobalt flowers ringing the interior with a matching scalloped upper rim.

The cup has an ornate handle embellished with gold gilding. Coalport porcelain has always been highly acclaimed for the quality of the china as well as for their artistic designs.

John Rose began the Coalport Porcelain Company in England in the 18th Century. Both the cup and saucer are in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws or repairs. The saucer measures 3/4" high and 4 1/2" in diameter. The cup is 2 1/4" high and 2 1/4" in diameter at the top.
