These stunning plates feature a rich and intricate 24 kt etched gold pattern on a background of cobalt blue. These were imported from France to Richard Briggs Co. A high end retailer in Boston, MA in this era, known for offering the finest china and glass imported from France. The incredible feature of this cobalt blue and gold pattern is the underlying iridescence.

When held up to both natural and artificial light, the 24 kt gold flowers and leaves immediately start to reflect various hews of pinks and purples. It was impossible to capture this in the pictures, which quite honestly, do not do justice to the beauty of these plates. The condition of every plate is pristine. There are no chips, cracks, utensil scratches or fading of the etched gold flower detail or trim. I have examined every plate carefully. Each plate measures 8 3/8 in diameter.

They would have been registered as the salad plate in this pattern but I personally feel they would also be appropriate as formal dessert plates. They would be a beautiful compliment to any table setting. The gold gilt trim is 24kt and has a glossy finish. The porcelain glaze on each plate is perfect and there are no dull or "smudgy" spots which is commonly found in pieces of this antique age. I could not even find fault in any of the hand painted gold trim and decor.

These plates are a beautiful representation of Charles Ahrenfeldt Limoges porcelain artistry of the early 1900s. The intricate and delicate gold etching on the gorgeous cobalt blue background is remarkable. Another telltale sign of these incredible plates is the underside sitting rim which encompasses the hallmark. The entire underside sit rim is trimmed in 24 kt gold. This is quite rare to find on any porcelain designed by Charles Ahrenfeldt for Limoges for import.
