Sadler Cube Teapot #2898 Pink Roses, Cobalt Blue and Gold Trim Made in England

  

This is Lovely Sadler Cube 2898 Cobalt and Gold Trim Teapot from England. It is unusual to find the Sadler Cube teapot trimmed in cobalt blue! The teapot is Ivory colored with a pretty pink rose and gilded leaves on the front and back and a matching pink rosebud on each of the four panels on the lid. The large roses are framed with gilded scrollwork in relief on the front, back, and the sides near the top of the handle and the spout. Each of the four corners is beautifully finished in striking cobalt/Saffire blue with a gold lattice ribbon down the center of the cobalt panels.

The cobalt blue and lattice design is repeated on the lid, separating each of the rosebud panels. The handle and spout is also trimmed in gold. Accents of gold leaves on all four sides complete its elegant design. The lid has the extended porcelain catch down inside, and the teapot has the seven-hole strainer inside at the spout.

This lovely English teapot measures 5-inches tall, 6-1/2 with the lid and finial, and 5-inches wide, 9-1/2 inches across the spout and handle. Made by the renowned English maker, Sadler, circa 1937 to the 1950s, the embossed mark reads "Sadler England" and the pattern number 2898 is handwritten in gold followed by a gold artists mark. There is crazing, common in these antique teapots.

There is a tiny chip and small closed crack on the rim under lid [see photos] and very small crack on lid rim [see in last photo]. The pattern shows little to no wear, and both the cobalt blue and the gold trim are bright, shiny, and intact. Please see ALL PHOTOS for complete details, description and measurements.
