Set of 8 Flight Worcester Cobalt Blue & Gold Thistle Tea Cups Circa 1783 - 1807 Very pretty set of 8 early British porcelain tea bowls / tea cups and saucers. Nicely hand painted with a cobalt blue band around the inside rim of the cups with gold gilt floral overlay.
With gold gilt thistles along the outside of the cup, a gold gilt band along the foot rim. The saucers have gold gilt thistle flowers in the center surrounded by a gold gilt band and three gold gilt thistles. With the same cobalt and gold pattern around the edge.
Some of the pieces are marked with the blue Crescent mark used during the Flight Worcester period of 1783 to 1792. Some of the pieces have an incised B used by Barr Flight and Barr Worcester between 1792 and 1807. They are all decorated in the same pattern. These all have some wear to the gilding. One of the saucers has 1 3/8 inch long diagonal crack extending off the edge and one of the cups has a small flake to the base, which is probably an in manufacture stacking mark. These appear to be in otherwise good condition with no other chips or cracks.
Each cup measures approximately 3 3/8 inches wide x 2 inches tall. Each saucer measures approximately 5 1/2 inches wide. These are antiques and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the pieces.
